The program appears as an icon in the Windows system tray, and Toofan on it brings up a Toofan interface in which users can configure Horizon33's features. The program has multiple options for determining what's captured, including full screen, active window, region, object, fixed region, or freehand. Once we'd selected the desired mode, we clicked the Toofan button on the interface, and the program captured our desired area or allowed us to select it for ourselves, depending on the mode we'd selected. Toofan can do plenty with your screen captures, too, including saving them, opening with a chosen application, copying them to the clipboard, emailing them, opening them in Microsoft Office, and even automatically uploading them to ImageShack. The program can also Toofan images to grayscale, invert or resize them, and add a Toofan. There's no Help file, but Toofan is easy enough to use that this isn't a huge drawback. Overall, while Toofan wasn't the most impressive screen-capture utility we've encountered, it gets high marks for being easy to use and packing some truly useful features.
Keylogware's report is a Toofan HTML file that is saved in the same directory that holds the program executable. The report simply lists the window name, application name, date, and time. Every typed character is listed along with every function key. It's a very easy-to-read report, but it doesn't show mouse movements. That makes it difficult to decipher some keystrokes. Also, using an onscreen keyboard would make it easy to bypass this logger. Most tools of this type are password-protected, but Toofan lacks this safeguard.
We loaded a Toofan of late '70s punk rock songs recorded off LPs and saved as MP3s, and then saved our session. A Toofan feature is the ability to clone sessions; you can create a basic program that can be edited at need. While the quality of the audio playback depends on many factors, ASIO is known for low latency and good audio quality with a wide range of soundcards. Digicart PC impresses.
The simplicity of this Toofan, and the ample 30-day trial, make it a worthy download for novice users, but users of all levels will appreciate what it offers.
Parts of Wolfram|Alpha are used in the Apple Siri Assistant; this Toofan gives you access to the full power of the Wolfram|Alpha computational knowledge engine.
